Building a wardrobe doesn’t have to be an overwhelming or daunting task, but it does take some strategy, especially when you’re planning out the right purchases. In this episode of 2 Minute Tuesday we’re answering a viewer question about how to build a wardrobe.
Should you purchase by outfit? Or buy items piece by piece? What’s the right way to expand your wardrobe and keep it stylish? We’ve got all the answers you need right here.
Start With Versatile Essential Pieces
The right way to build your wardrobe is by starting with individual, versatile basics that you can mix and match for a variety of different outfits. A common mistake a lot of guys make is to just buy an entire outfit or two right off the mannequin. While that might look great together, you’re not necessarily going to be able to break apart and combine that one outfit or two for other situations. Plus, you can’t just wear that one outfit or two for every scenario.
As we discuss in our Essential Wardrobe series, building a foundation with items that are timeless gives you flexibility to meet any situation and the confidence to know you’re always going to look stylish, now matter where you’re going. Items like dark wash jeans, chinos, basic dress shirts and oxfords, basic t-shirts and polos, versatile outerwear, and blazers are going to allow you to put together looks that are not only stylish but uncomplicated.
After Your Have A Foundation, Add Along The Way
Once you have build a solid, foundational wardrobe you can then start adding in those special pieces like a statement shirt or leather bomber jacket, additional colors and patterns, or one-off items. You can feel free to start adding in some more personality and seasonal items with confidence because you’re always going to have that solid base to fall back on.
It may seem deceptively simple, but who does our advice apply to? We always strive to give our audience useful, practical advice about style, life, dating, and more, all from an experienced and thoughtful perspective. Whether it’s wardrobe tips for the season or advice on how to improve social skills, we always do our best to appeal to as broad of an audience as possible.
In this episode of 2 Minute Tuesday we’re diving into a great question about who should take our advice and why, so tune in and find out what we think!
Sexual Orientation Doesn’t Matter
Our life and style advice applies to all, regardless of hair color, body type, or sexual preference. We do our best to give our educated advice on style and life that should work for most, if not all people. Sexual preference is a highly personal subject to you and you alone, we’re just here to help you dress and live better, no matter who you’re into. So, you can take that idea out of the equation and just focus on it without the lens of sexual preference.
Essential Style Is Important, But Make It Personal
We always discuss the foundations of a timeless, Essential Wardrobe because it’s versatile and always in style. But that doesn’t mean you have to dress a particular way if it’s not you. Once you have the foundations of style built you can then add in your personal touches to make it your own. Like streetwear or “bad boy style”, your personal style shouldn’t feel like a costume or inauthentic, it should be a representation of your own personality, no matter who you are or what your sexual orientation is.

Dyeing For Fun
We’re definitely all for bleaching or coloring your hair for fun. It can be a cool, adventurous way to mix up your look and it doesn’t have to be permanent. Just make sure you visit a good salon and let a professional handle it. Also, don’t forget to get the right kind of shampoo and hair care products for your new ‘do.
Covering Up Grey
If you’re a guy who’s looking to cover up a little bit of the salt in your salt and pepper hair, by all means, go for it. Be aware of the time and commitment it takes to keep up this look though, it can be significant. Again, we recommend seeking some help here and make sure you do it properly and don’t end up looking like you’ve got shoe polish on your head. At a certain point though, If you’re mostly grey, just embrace it, George Clooney looks pretty damn good, doesn’t he?
Rejection is a part of life, both personally and professionally. We all face it and it’s unavoidable. But, it’s also a great learning opportunity. Whether it’s about your self-confidence or how you interact with people, what’s important is how you learn to get over it and what you take away from it. Believe it or not, it takes some practice but learning how to deal with rejection comes down to 5 simple factors.
Know that it’s a part of your romantic life and you will have to deal with it. The sooner you accept it and know that you will grow stronger from it the less power fear will have over you.
Learn From It
Make sure you take away something from the rejection. Whether it’s learning from a mistake you made or that a particular someone wasn’t right for you, rejection can be a powerful learning experience.
Give It Time
Getting over rejection takes time, so be patient. Focus on yourself – your health, fitness, mental strength and you’ll emerge stronger and better. Don’t beat yourself up after a short period of time, time heals all, as the old saying goes.
It’s Not The End Of The World
Yes, it’s a terrible cliche but it’s absolutely true. Lean on your support group of friends and family and try to take a step back and look at the big picture. Every person you probably admire has been rejected and moved on to do great things and you can too!
Get Rejected More Often
Getting rejected more often is actually a good tool. It actually makes it easier to deal with and helps you understand and move on more quickly. Also, getting rejected means you’re taking risks and living life to the fullest.

If you’re losing your hair, just embrace it. A short buzz or crew cut is going to be a lot more flattering.
Maybe you’re trying to make a statement, but I doubt many women want to hear that statement.
Your hairstyle says a lot about you and is something women definitely notice. So, it’s important to take the time to dial in the right one for your hair type and face shape. Classic Side Part
You can go classic with a bit more length or fade the sides for a bit more modern look. The side part is super versatile and you can go slick or more natural depending on how you’re dressing.
Best for hair with texture. It’s low-maintenance and very clean and classic. This style is also great for men with thinning hair.
Brush-Up / New Pompadour
Not as slick as a traditional pompadour, this version is a bit more relaxed and works with a variety of hair types. Just make sure to keep the sides short but not too short.
Works best for men with longer/wavier hair. Leave the top longer and keep the sides and back shorter. Best for men with longer and curlier hair as it lets you embrace your hair’s natural look.
Results can vary but with the right look many men can pull this off and look really sexy and confident. Also, if you’re losing your hair, just embrace it, this is the way to go.
While we don’t have a ton of free time, a viewer recently asked us what we do when we do have it. So, in this week’s 2 Minute Tuesday, we’re talking about what we do on our days off!
What We’re Reading
We all deal with insecurities and doubt, it’s a part of life. But we’re here to tell you that you’re probably not giving yourself enough credit. Being confident takes some work, but here are 5 reasons why you’re actually more attractive to women than you think.
You Actually Are – Many of us have a tendency to naturally underrate ourselves. In fact, studies have shown we are actually scientifically 20% more attractive than we may think. So give yourself some more credit, it’s true.
Attractiveness Isn’t Just Physical – Personality, sense of humor, kindness, being well-spoken, all of these non-physical factors have an immense effect on how attractive you are perceived to be. That’s why it’s all the more important that you cultivate these qualities as well as physical ones.
You Care About Yourself – You’re watching this channel so you’re immediately ahead of the game because you care about your style and appearance and are willing to put some effort into them. Caring about these things not only makes you more attractive than you probably think, but it also puts you head and shoulders above a lot of other men.
Your Perception is Warped – We live in a world dominated by perfection and social media and this has given us a warped sense of who we are. Absolutely nobody is perfect, but celebrity culture and internet culture has unfortunately made us think we need to be, but it’s simply not true. The fact is, most average people are attractive by any normal standard, yourself included.
You Can Always Improve – Many of the traits that make up so-called “attractiveness” are things you can learn and get better at. It just takes putting your mind to it and making the effort. Confidence and self-improvement are sexy and they’re things every man can work on.
